GAVINELL: A Garden for the well-being
In Salsomaggiore Terme Nature and Research for the well-being
The Botanical Garden Gavinell: an ideal place to spend a day immersed in a beautiful natural landscape, a way to keep in contact with tradition and knowledge of the officinal and aromatic cultures.
Over 450 species of aromatic and officinal plants, carely cultivated with passion and experience on an area of 25.000 acres, the 50% of which (corresponding to 50.000 square meters) open to the public:
All that you can find at Gavinell.
Surrounded by a beautiful hills landscape, the visitors can visit the Botanical Garden while walking immerged amongst the officinal plants, rest in the “Hortus Conclusus” (historically faithful reconstruction of a corner of a medioeval herborisical garden), or admire the special Olive trees, fruit of the collaboration to the CNR and the University of Parma.
Visitors can end the day at Gavinell with a visit to the Herborist Room and to the “Olfattoteca”
(Olfaction library), where they can test perfumes, essences, oils,
cosmetic and food products, all derived from the precious herbs that
Gavinell produces.
Our Botanical Garden hosts 250 species of officinal plants, some of them really rare and autochtonous: the 36 Bach flowers, the isole fitotematiche, the Garden known as “Orto dei Semplici”.
Amongst them, we grow up the exclusive White Lavander of Salsomaggiore and the cold resistant Olive trees, whose existence is the fruit of the collaboration to the joint research project of the University of Parma (Faculty of Agriculture) and the National Research Center (CNR) of Florence. To learn from Nature.
The Botanical Garden suggests to all its visitors the opportunity to have guided tours with the help of its scientific Staff.
