Welcome to the Botanical Garden Gavinell Over 450 species of aromatic and officinal plants, carely cultivated with passion and experience on an area of 25.000 acres, the 50% of which (corresponding to 50.000 square meters) open to the public:
All that you can find at Gavinell.
Amongst the essences, the extraordinary White Lavender of Salsomaggiore (that can be found only at Gavinell’s) stands out for it’s snow-white particular beauty and value.
Both the students and the simple tourists can discover properties and heling virtues of the different plants, thanks to the personal assistance and care of a professional herbalist, Paolo Prampolini.
Surrounded by a beautiful hills landscape, the visitors can visit the Botanical Garden while walking immerged amongst the officinal plants, rest in the “Hortus Conclusus” (historically faithful reconstruction of a corner of a medioeval herborisical garden), or admire the special Olive trees, fruit of the collaboration to the CNR and the University of Parma.
Visitors can end the day at Gavinell with a visit to the Herborist Room and to the “Olfattoteca” (Olfaction library), where they can test perfumes, essences, oils, cosmetic and food products, all derived from the precious herbs that Gavinell produces.
To end their day immerged in the beautiful hills landscape, Gavinell can offer cultural, gastronomic and entertainment suggestions: a visit to the “Vie del Liberty” and the “Belle Epoque Avenues”; a guided visit to the Regional Park of Stirone; the outdoor fossil Museum; the guided tours to the City of Art near Parma (Fontanellato, Torrechiara); the Verdi lands are only some of our suggestions.
Amongst all the Gavinell’s proposals, you can visit the new Refreshment Stall, including the Cooking School and the Laboratory of the “Olfaction library”, to restore and test the natural food products after a beautiful day spent in the calm of the hills landscape of Salsomaggiore.
We are waiting for your visit!
